Long story short: Developing progressive, sustainable education systems in conflict areas require specifically-trained teachers. Please donate to fund a training programme for Congolese teachers!
Long story NOT cut short: In war-torn countries like the Democratic Republic of the Congo, effective teachers are able to create stable environments for children to learn. Outside the classroom, teachers can be active in starting or participating in community building activities.
But it is difficult for teachers to do that work effectively and continuously unless they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
Justice Rising holds a yearly training program to get their teachers ready for a new school year. $20,000 will pay for 70-80 teachers' trips from mostly rural areas to the training venue in the city of Goma, food, board, materials and the 1-week training program. That's roughly $44 per day per teacher. “Teachers For Progress” was started to raise the $20,000 needed for the next training programme.
Please join Teachers For Progress in supporting the Congolese teachers in their efforts to bring about peace and progress in their country!
