War is real. Most of us have only witnessed it through news media outlets and social media, maybe some of us have actually sat across from a beating heart sharing their story from a war-torn country, but the truth is: most of us have no idea how to process the kind of hardship many have walked through in their life.
But hope is rising - it is always rising. Beauty is sprouting up in the ashes of war-torn communities, even while conflict still rages. See, beauty doesn’t wait for threats to cease, but actively invades by force, overcoming darkness with light.
For me, it’s hard to deny the reality that to send 10 kids to school for a YEAR in a war-torn country, all it takes is tying up my shoelaces. It’s something I already do nearly every day, but now I’m choosing to run & race for something (& someONE) rather than for another check off my own personal goals.
On October 7th, 2018, I’m running the TC 10 Mile race. My goal is to raise $500 by that time, and through that send 10 children in a war-torn country to school for an entire year through Justice Rising.
Justice Rising is a 501(c)(3) organization based out of Los Angeles that believes education is the most powerful tool to build peace and to break the cycle of war. This organization exists to transform war zones through building schools, training teachers, and developing community programs. They work in Congo, Syria, and Iraq. These areas of the world have been deeply established in my heart for many years, so naturally this is something I want to put my hands and feet to, and I trust this organization deeply.
Will you join me? Let’s empower these kids who I believe will transform nations with their stories of hope and redemption! For more information, visit Justice Rising’s website: https://www.justicerising.org
