Hi friends and family,
For my birthday this year, I'm fundraising to build a primary school in the Democratic Republic of Congo with an organization called Justice Rising. Their mission is to build peace in war-affected communities by creating access to education. In active and post-conflict areas, education has the power to change how children think and respond to violent conflict. To learn more about Justice Rising, visit their website - www.justicerising.org.
To build a complete primary school, it costs $75,000. A generous donor from the west coast has already agreed to match $37,500 to help us reach the full $75k for a school build. In lieu of birthday gifts this year, would you consider donating to help us reach our goal?
This school will be serving over 200 kids from a population who’ve fled from war at a young age and have resettled in attempts to rebuild their lives. In addition it will also provide jobs to local teachers! The school will also achieve gender equality, educating girls and boys 50/50. We dream of disrupting cycles of conflict and poverty. We believe it starts with education.
Join us to make a sustainable impact. You will receive updates of the school as it's being built and stories from the students when it's up.
The school will be located just outside of the city of Goma, in war torn Eastern Congo.
Our goal is to have the school funded before this Spring, start construction by the end of the year and open it's doors in 2020!
